Growing Out Hair

Currently my hair is a little past shoulder length and has been growing out for a year and a half. This time is the longest I've gone without cutting it. Usually I leave my hair alone for around a year before I am forced to go get a haircut. My entire family always criticize me over how I should have short hair for a more tidier look. My long hair ends up curling at the ends and I tend to just wrap it up in a ponytail most of the time to make it look neat.

As someone who's clueless about hair maintenance, I am gradually searching for tips on how to take better care of my hair. I did recently learn tips such as not brushing hair when wet, not rubbing a towel to dry wet hair, avoiding to use any kind of heating tools, not forcing hair into tight hairstyles, and by washing hair with cool water. There's so much more like using conditioner, but the point is that it's really something that hair needs so much care. It makes me see girls with long hair in a new perspective.

The reason I keep my hair long is because I want to play around with many long hairstyles. I'm also biased about long hair, so despite what anyone says, I would always prefer it over short hair. It kind of sucks that a guy with long hair is less than the ideal appearance during an interview. It makes me sad thinking about cutting it in the near future when I'm looking for a job. Although I do want to leave it as long as possible, I don't know what I'll decide to do. Well if I do cut it, I guess I could always play with my cosplay wigs, but it's just not the same.
